Sunday evening.

If you go outside today be sure to wrap up warm. Tomorrow something very exciting is happening that could change everything for me. I have to keep quiet for a while but I will let you know if it becomes a reality. What are you having for dinner? I really want an English Sunday lunch in a cosy pub. Instead I think I will eat soup...again.

Friday was spent reading Doris Lessing, drinking mulled wine with cointreau (yum), discovering a new bar , eating potato, carrot and cheddar soup and watching the apprentice under the covers with my sweet boyfriend.  The top picture is me sat on my bed wearing bow tights (a gift from my friend Fay), the second is the entrance to my little studio, the light was really nice that day.

Tough Love by Caz A

There is nothing better than getting surprise letters in the mail and getting your own dedicated cartoon book is just brilliant. My very talented friend Caz who I've worked with the past two summers sent me this little book full of cartoons about, well...tough love. Everyone I have shown it to has cried with laughter and begged for a copy. She is also a very talented drummer in a band called Sparrow, here is their myspace. On top of all that she is a superb office assistant and sign 'put a uppa'. Thank you Caz, you really made my week.

Le 14 novembre

Hello, I hope you all had a good weekend. This Sunday was mine and my boyfriend's 2 year anniversary, we celebrated Saturday night with Sushi and drinks and he brought me flowers (I love the idea that he came to my house on the metro with them-too cute). At the moment I am reading a rather feminist French book called Boys, Boys, Boys by Joy Sorman and working a lot. My new job seems to have a lot of little perks including eating at beautiful restaurants sometimes for lunch and after meetings. What luck! I hope I will stay there for a while yet.

Sunday, 7 November 2010

Saturday night was spent with my boyfriend and his friends at an apartment in the 17e, a place that I can only describe as a museum ( see top picture!) It really was a great night. Now I am a little hungover and want to eat a sandwich, but I have no bread, no cheese, no ham. Please can someone go to the shop for me?

Une compote

Outside it is cold and raining buckets but I'm nice and cosy inside my little studio making compote and watching films. I make compote boiling 3 apples and 3 pears (cored and quartered) in water, then mixing it with a blender, adding as much cinnamon and sugar as you like. I hope the weather isn't so terrible wherever you are in the world.

Boulevard Raspail

This morning on my way to work I saw Parisian girls with good legs (I am in awe that she can walk so gracefully in those shoes!) and tasty Hugo & Victor window displays.
Today I also got to enjoy a real French lunch time at the Bon Marché restaurant Delicabar with my new colleagues; buffalo mozzarella with asparagus, cinnamon apples with speculoos and vanilla ice cream (I wish  I could've taken photos!) A 2 hour lunch with wine is definitely something I could get used to, although it makes it a little tough to work with a tipsy head ;-)

Ca commence bien

Today I started my new job as an administrator and already I love it, everything is in French which adds something extra as well as the fact that it is situated in a very pretty quartier of Paris. The first photo is of the park next to the school where I hope to read and eat my lunch, the second photo is of my office hidden in a very sweet courtyard  off Boulevard Raspail in the 7e arrondissement.
Tonight I have a million things to learn, however right now I am extremely happy to have been given this opportunity, I'm going to work my socks off!
If you want to come learn French in Paris at a wonderful little school, go to the website www.ecole-letoile.com and contact me for more information!

La fourmi

La fourmi is a great (and cheap) bar near Pigalle, 74 Rue des Martyrs 18e, there is a chandelier made of wine bottles (see above) and everyone is always relaxed and in a good mood there. I definitely recommend it.

Salut! I am very happy it is the weekend, although I haven't been doing very much at all this week. On Wednesday I begin my new job and I am extremely excited yet very nervous as it will all be in French. Eek.
One of my favourite magazines in France is Elle à table, which has some of the best recipes I have ever tried, they also tell you what is in season and therefore what you should be eating now! Like walnuts!
I hope you all have a brilliant weekend.
